Acupressure point to relieve stress, anxiety and insomnia

by | Acupressure, Blog

In this post, I talk about a point called Shen Men, translated as “Spirit Gate,” located on the wrist. Spirit Gate describes the functions of this point–it’s a gate or door to access your spirit and emotions. This points are very good at calming the mind, balancing the emotions and lifting the spirit. It’s a special points to alleviate pain, stress, anxiety and relieve insomnia. It’s a top point for calming the spirit and regulating emotions.

Acupressure on Spirit Gate to alleviate stress and anxiety

Acupressure is applying pressure to a point for a specific amount of time. The principle is similar to acupuncture but instead of needles, you use your fingers, hands or elbows to apply pressure to the point. By stimulating the point, you circulate the energy and blood along its pathway. These pathways are called meridians. Blockage found along these meridians is what leads to illness and pain. Acupressure can help restore the proper flow of blood and energy to the meridian to restore balance.

On the Spirit Gate on the wrist, use your thumb to gently press on the point. Massage for 15-30 seconds. Repeat three times. You can do this several times a day, as needed.
