Four Ways to Create More Love and Positivity

by | Blog, Inspiration

Harmony in the mind, body and spirit is essential to live your healthiest life. Setting up your environment the right way can help you be more present, more loving, and stay close to your purpose and intention in life. Here are four things you can do to create more love and positivity in your life right now.

1. Move your body

Make a playlist of your favorite songs that motivate you. It’s easier than ever to get free content online, streaming on the web, or through your smart speaker. My seven year old son is the one who taught me how to save a playlist on Alexa 🙂 I now have a playlist for inspiration and another for dancing.

When you listen to music that you love, that vibration resonates through your body. When you move your body, you do several things: (1) you burn calories, (2) you release energy that’s in excess or doesn’t serve you anymore, (3) you tune in to the part of yourself that is carefree and loving, and (4) you connect to the energy of the universe.

2. Breathe

I usually put breathing first on the list because it’s so important. But sometimes we have to release excess or stuck energy first through movement before we can sit down and do our deep breathing. This may happen when we feel strong emotions or feel a bit restless. Next time you find yourself not able to sit down to meditate, move your body first in any way that feels good and releases that energy (see #1 above). Then you can sit down in a quiet space and breathe.

Sit or lay down in a comfortable position. Close your eyes. Become aware of your surroundings. Become aware of the chair you are sitting on or the bed you are laying in. Then start to slow down your breathing. Slow inhale, slow exhale. Do at least three deep breaths. Exhale for twice as long as you inhale. Feel every inch of your body relax.

Do your three deep breaths several times throughout the day. Do it when you wake up, before sitting down on your desk to work, when you take your breaks, and before you sleep at night. Try to get in the habit of taking deep breaths throughout your day. Let it be your refuge that you can rely on anytime, anywhere.

3. Put up pictures and quotes that make you smile

You can place these around your desk, in front of the mirror every morning, or anywhere you will look at it often. Pick pictures and quotes that will make you smile. Pick something funny, inspiring, loving–anything that brings you joy.

Around my desk right now are pictures of my family, me and my daughter outside in the yard, a picture of my son three years ago that I recently found when we made melon juice together, another one of my son making funny faces. I also have their drawings and doodles up around my wall. I also have a vision board in the bedroom that I look at every morning when getting dressed. These are all reminders of what I love and why I do what I do.

4. Do at least one thing that you love every day

Make a list of at least twenty things you love to do (if you want to put more even better!). Be specific. Make sure that this list does not include being on social media, the computer, or watching TV–pick things that you love to do that you normally don’t get a chance to. You want this to be a time you can nourish your soul with things you love, that makes you feel warm and fuzzy inside. Put it somewhere where you can see it every day–on your desk, on your refrigerator. It can be something big or small. Commit to doing at least one of them each day.

Here are some examples for inspiration:

  • Writing
  • Reading poetry
  • Dancing
  • Making art
  • Listening to music
  • Sipping a warm cup of tea
  • Walking outside
  • Walking along the beach
  • Riding my bike
  • Going out with my kids on their scooter around the neighborhood
  • Jumping jacks with my son
  • Chasing my kids around the house (I love hearing my toddler say “Mama… get me”)
  • Planting and harvesting herbs
  • Watching the sun rise

What are some things that you like to incorporate in your life to create more love and positivity?
